When Steve Jobs got thrown out of Apple, he started NeXT Computers. Later, Apple hired Steve Jobs back by merging with NeXT Computers. Most current Apple products are in some way based on the NeXTstep operating system.
This is the NeXTcube, the 2nd product line of NeXT Computers. It is the computer that Tim Berners-Lee used to implement the world's first web server. Tim and his computer featured in the London 2012 Olympics Operning Ceremony
Not pictured is the NeXTcube Turbo with a NeXTdimension colour graphics board and the associated Soundbox.
These machines still work, but the displays have some issues, so they are a bit hard to work with. I got some instructions for fixing this, but I haven't gotten around to twiddling with the high-voltage insides of a monitor or replacing SMD capacitors on a video board yet...
